Solid Threads was created by a t-shirt connossiuer who slowly honed his craft of creating random, funny, vintage shirts by drinking heavily at least three to four days a week, sleeping no less than 12 hours a day, and getting to as many "two for Tuesday" sales at the local Salvation Army as he could.

He held several random jobs while getting this company off the ground, from working a Good Humor Truck to delivering chicken wings. But the motivation he needed came about when his carefree lifestyle was snatched away like a tiger chasing a wounded gazelle; he had entered the cubicle jungles of the corporate world. Gradually, each day became slightly worse than the day before until eventually everyday became the worst day of his life.

There were many times when a swan dive onto the subway tracks seemed like a viable option, but this story has a happy ending. He made it through the struggle and realized his dream of one day returning to the lifestyle of a true t-shirt connossiuer, where ideas flow freely and his collection steadily improves.

Solid Threads began in 2002 making really funny t-shirts. The goal was simple; create an original, clever, diverse collection of designs that people get excited to wear and print them on the most comfortable, supple shirts available. The founder, a recent business grad at the time, taught himself design and began carrying out this mission, one idea at a time, one t-shirt at a time, learning as he went.

The collection was first sold in the Solid Threads online store launched during the holiday season of 2003. The company began to take shape in 2004, when the founder left his full time job to concentrate completely on Solid Threads. During this time, the collection was sold predominantly on the streets through street fairs, festivals and good old fashioned street vending.

From a contact met while street vending, Solid Threads landed its first wholesale contract with retail giant, Urban Outfitters. Since that time, Solid Threads has acquired wholesale accounts across the country and internationally. In May 2006, Solid Threads opened its first retail store in Belmar, NJ. In September 2006, Solid Threads rolled that store into its headquarters location in Hoboken, NJ, complete with a retail showroom, warehouse space, and office space.
