Solid Threads is a clothing and accessories company started in 2001, initially growing out of a deep appreciation for the greatest garment ever sewn together, the t-shirt. Unknowingly at the time, we began sewing the threads of our humor, easiness, and enjoy-the-moment mentality into what has now become one of the greatest t-shirt collections ever assembled. We first sold our wares on the streets of our home state of New Jersey, establishing a solid connection to the eclectic cast of characters that we are proud to have as a customer base. A connection on which the company was truly founded and one that eventually unearthed the true ingredients on how to make truly classic and memorable t-shirts. While on the streets we learned to blur the line between designer and novelty, we perfected our understanding of creating the clever, original, random t-shirts that subtly draw attention and carefully convey humor. Our goal is simple, we strive to spread laughter, easiness, and love throughout the world one t-shirt at a time, one person at a time, and to continue learning as we go. We offer a plethora of original and inspired garments made of only the highest quality, most comfortable threads you will find, and yes, we just recently found out what a plethora is! Solid Threads began in 2001 by making really funny t-shirts. The goal was simple; create an original, clever, diverse collection of designs that people get excited to wear and print them on the most comfortable, supple shirts available. The founder, a recent business grad at the time who had grown disillusioned and uninspired by the corporate world, taught himself design and began carrying out this mission one idea at a time, one t-shirt at a time, learning as he went.

After a substantial learning curve that featured more than its fair share of business lessons, the collection was first sold in the Solid Threads online store launched during the holiday season of 2003. The site was advertised solely through e-mail promotions to friends and family and by word of mouth. The company started to grow rapidly and fully begin to take shape in 2004, when the founder left his full time job to concentrate completely on Solid Threads. During this time, and for the next couple years, the collection was sold on the streets through fairs, festivals and good old fashioned street vending. The response was immediate and overwhelming, and extremely beneficial to the founder and designer. He received a frontline education on what people truly wanted and got his hands on the pulse of the street wear/funny t-shirt market.

The next step for Solid Threads was to enter the wholesale arena, although the founder did not exactly know this at the time. The company did soon find itself in the wholesale side of the business though, and it entered with a bang. From a contact met while street vending, Solid Threads amazingly landed its first wholesale contract with retail giant, Urban Outfitters. They placed a test order for one shirt in January of 2005 and from there, the design grew to become one of their top selling shirts for the next year and a half. Since then Solid Threads has serviced close to 200 wholesale accounts ranging from small boutiques to large chains in both national and international markets.

Solid Threads opened its first retail store in Belmar, NJ during the summer of 2006, fulfilling a long time dream of a having a t-shirt shack at the beach. A dream and a location that the founder hopes one day to return permanently. That shirt shack was then rolled into our headquarters location in Hoboken, NJ complete with a popular boutique, office space, and warehouse. Solid Threads continues to grow and expand its offering, now developing up to 10 brand new designs every month. We are continually searching for ways to improve our product line, services, and ability to deliver on our company mission.
